The key to having healthy teeth is to maintain a high standard of oral hygiene and good dietary control.
Brush your teeth for 2 minutes, twice a day; brushing last thing at night is very important.
Use a fluoride toothpaste.
Use circular motions with a manual toothbrush.
Alternatively, you can use an electric toothbrush.
Adopt a “spit, don’t rinse” routine, i.e. do not rinse your mouth with water after you brush your teeth. The toothpaste should remain on your teeth, instead of being washed away.
If your gums bleed, gently brush them again to remove bacteria.
Interdental cleaning should be carried out daily using floss or interdental brushes.
Water and plain milk are the only safe drinks for your teeth.
Sugary food and drinks should be consumed at mealtimes only, therefore, try to limit these to no more than 3x day.
Savoury snacks are more favourable between your meals.
Visit your Dentist regularly to ensure your teeth and mouth are healthy. If you smoke or drink, regular dental appointments are vital.
